 Daily Symptom Checker

It very important to have the Daily Symptom Checker done before 8:30am each day.  We are unable to allow students to stay on campus or participate in class unless the DSC is filled out and approval from DSC is sent back.

To promote student, staff, and community health and safety, Arlington Public Schools is using the Qualtrics Daily Symptom Checker. 

What is the Daily Symptom Checker? An automated daily survey that prompts families to assess their student for the presence of COVID-19 symptoms before the student goes to school for face-to-face instructional services.

Is the Symptom Checker required?  YES, all students and staff must complete the Daily Symptom Checker before coming to school.

How do I receive the Daily Symptom Checker? A link is sent each school day to the email address on file for Family 1 Guardian 1 in each student’s Skyward Student record.  The system is set up so that the daily link can only be sent to one email address.  Families can request that the email address in Family 1 Guardian 1 be changed so the message is sent to a different email address.  The school secretary can make this change.

While answering the survey for the first time, families can direct the survey link to be sent to a cellphone number via SMS text message.  Alternatively, symptom checkers can be reached by scanning the QR code below.  Families can also use this link to reach the Daily Symptom Checker (this link is for use by Pioneer Elementary families only):


The survey asks me if my student has a COVID-19 symptom like a runny nose.  My student has allergies and always has a runny nose.  Should I answer yes to these kids of symptoms?
  NO, only report new symptoms for which there is no known cause.  If your student has allergies or another known health condition that causes a COVID-19 like symptom, do not report on the Daily Symptom Checker.  Only report new symptoms or symptoms for which there is no known cause

What if my student has a new symptom?  Students with new COVID-19 symptoms should stay home from school.  Families should contact their medical provider for more information and/or COVID-19 testing.  Students who test positive for COVID-19 can return to school 10 days after the start of symptoms, symptoms are resolving, and 24 hours have passed since any fever.  Students who are negative for COVID-19 can return to school when symptoms are improving and they have not had a fever without the use of medication for more than 24 hours.  Students who are not tested for COVID-19 may return to school 10 days after symptoms began, symptoms are resolving, and 24 hours have passed since any fever.


  Meal Service

No Cost meals through 2020-21 school year.   Meals are provided to all children at no charge for the entire 2020-21 school year.

Free and Reduced Price Meals Application  Families whose income situation may have changes are encouraged to apply for an application for Free or Reduced price meal eligibility  While this may not apply to meals this year, there are other benefits for families who qualify, such as free internet connectivity or free insurance for their student's Chromebook computer.
